Gustė Stasevičiūtė

PhD Researcher

Gustė Stasevičiūtė is a PhD Researcher at the Meertens Institute and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She is currently working on her NWO-funded project “Towards closeness: Understanding interspecies and intraspecies relationships through embodied interaction”, supervised by Prof. dr. Leonie Cornips and Prof. dr. Alan Cienki.

In this project, Gustė is exploring what it means to form and sustain close relationships within industrial dairy farming. By combining long-term ethnographic fieldwork with linguistic analysis tools, she is aiming to uncover how humans and dairy cows use their bodies to communicate to one another.

Gustė holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nordic Languages from Sorbonne University and a Master’s degree in Linguistics from the University of Groningen. Her research interests include human-animal communication, emotional and embodied interaction, relationship and community building.
